Well guys, it has been a while and I apologize for the lack of posts. I have been in Japan for the past two weeks, enjoying every second, but with little to no internet access. So I thought I'd give you a little update on my current status and share with you my first experience not counting macros in two years! WHAAAT? Yep that's right. INTUITIVE EATING. As you can see in the EPIC photo on the left, I enjoyed every last bite of Japan. ;) From crazy flavored kit-kats to green tea ice cream, legit ramen, and tons of sashimi, I just freaking went for it. And I'm SO glad I did. When I traveled to Japan six years ago in the middle of my eating disorder, I barely ate anything because I was so afraid of gaining weight. This time I vowed to enjoy it fully. The funny thing is, I actually lost a few pounds. |
There was no gym access where I was staying in Japan, but I brought some AquaBell travel weights that you fill with water (about 20 lbs each), which seems like a great idea... but they started leaking a few days in! I was pretty disappointed with the AquaBells and don't recommend them. I burned a crap ton of calories just by walking everywhere and tried to incorporate body weight exercises like jump squats, push-ups, tricep dips, etc in the morning. I think all the walking and some muscle loss (unfortunately) is what caused a little drop in weight. Right now I am at 117 lbs (I'm 5'4" btw), which is about 10 lbs less than my highest weight a few months ago when I started cutting.
I hit the gym back in the states for the first time yesterday and it was ROUGH. I've lost a significant amount of strength, but I am excited to push myself to new levels and push my metabolism farther than I have before. From this point forward, I've decided that I don't want to obsess as much about aesthetics and being lean, but rather, focus on my mental and physical health. I want to push my metabolism further than I ever have before and make some serious gains. I've always had the tendency to be wishy-washy and want to cut and get lean when my metabolism probably wasn't at its best.
I'm over that life. I'm ready to take this thing to the next level even if it means gaining weight. I know it may take a LONG time to reverse diet to where I'd like to be and I'm okay with that. So, I hereby commit to another full-on reverse diet! I'll post the stats of this one online as well so you can follow along and see what I'm doing, like I did with the first one a year ago.
I'm amazed with how much support I've gotten and the great friends I've made so far along this journey as the macro experiment. You guys mean the world to me and I love being a part of this awesome community! So much love! <3
