Thoughts and Reflections

A dear friend of mine, Hana Devore, recently defined happiness on a fitness podcast and I absolutely could not agree more with what she said -- "doing what you want to do, unapologetically and not feeling like you have to answer to anybody." It's reaching that point where you truly find yourself--find what you LOVE to do, and just go after it with all your heart.

It took a minute, but I must say I am truly happy, right where I am.

I don't really fit into a stereotypical "fitspo" mold, but I'm totally cool with that. I am me, Cait Robertson, and I love that God made me unique in my gifts and talents. I have a passion to share those with you guys so that is what I will continue to do!

The past few months had some ups and downs. I've decided not to compete. It was a bummer to call that shot, but I realized it was best for me personally. This contest prep attempt took me to a dark place mentally and physically and just straight up did not make me happy. I don't know what I will be doing in the future in that regard, but I'm totally cool with taking it one day at a time. I won't be prepping for a certain date on a calendar, that's for sure. I will simply continue to progress to the best version of ME, keeping health and happiness as my top priority. Having the best coach in the universe to guide me is a definite plus too. :P

So, here's a list of things that do make me happy, things I will continue to do because I LOVE THEM!
1. Sharing God's love
2. Helping people reach their goals
3. Developing recipes
4. Songwriting
5. Progressing in my lifts
6. Building my metabolism
7. Laughing, because nothing in life is that serious

I've had this blog for over two years and in that time I have gone though many different physical and mental changes. I've made some amazing friendships and had the opportunity to get to know people from all across the world. You guys are seriously amazing. I just wanted to let you know how THANKFUL I am for you guys who actually take the time to read this blog and watch my videos. I hope one day I can HUG every one of you!!!

I know this post seems kind of rambly, but I just wanted to share what's on my heart. Whoever you are reading this, if you're struggling to reach a goal or just feeling unhappy, please be encouraged. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it will get better!! Keep going for it. Please feel free to contact me, even if you just need some encouragement or prayer. Much love!

Thank you for being you and being honest. It really takes guts and accountability and if you could take anything from your prep is making those realizations and becoming a better person from it, then you've really surpassed more than you know. We all have our ups and downs, sometimes they take a little longer to realize but they always come forward eventually. Reading and watching your journey is amazing for someone like myself who has similar struggles. May not be the same ones but one common struggle is finding who you are. Now I'm not the best with writing hahah so I'm sure part of this doesn't make sense. Keep moving forward Cait, your amazing!

Hi Cait,

This makes me so happy. You are one of the few genuine people in the "fitness industry". You truly care about helping people. I feel like I got lost wanting to be like the typical fitspo, but you and a few others have reminded me to stay true to myself. Thank you for being you. So honestly, loving, caring, and inspirational. Love you girl.

Cait! You are an inspiration to so many, and I'm fortunate to have stumbled across your blog while doing my own "macro experiment". Its seems I'm following the same path as you (as now I'm experimenting with reverse dieting), so it's been a joy to know there are others who have and are taking the same steps as me!

You have a great sense of humor, and I admire how honest and open you are with everyone; sharing your journey....struggles and all. Keep up the great work! God bless!

It's so great to be true to yourself! Sometimes I'll find myself checking in on my goals.. or sometimes even just subconscious expectations I have for myself.. and question if I even really WANT that anymore? Sometimes you'll realize you've changed.. and sometimes you might even realize you didn't want it for the right reasons in the first place. You have to be true to yourself. Great words of wisdom!

Cait, I found your blog about a month ago through my coaches. Reading your blog and your story has changed my life. I read through your "About Me" section and what you wrote right there on the page was me, word for word. You were my light bulb moment, the moment I realized that there was/is someone else out there like me. That I wasn't healthy, I was starving myself and I didn't care what anyone thought of it, all for a number on the scale.
Although, I started my reverse dieting earlier this year and have actually increased daily caloric intake by 700cal, mentally I was not even close to being in a good spot.
This blog, you, have changed my life quite literally. Thank you!

Cait,
Love, love, love this post more than any other one you have done. I stumbled across your blog quite some time ago and "stalk" it regularly, lol. You are by far my favorite blogger, IIFYMer, recipe maker and instagrammer!! Please keep being you, unapologetically.
Thank you!!

Hey Cait so happy to hear that you are happy. I can relate to you, I thought that counting macros was the solution to my problems. I thought that by counting macros I was going to be able to eat what i wanted as long as it fitted my macros. I am not saying that counting macros is bad i know it works, but sincerely it was not making my life happy anymore because I forgot how to listen to my body it was all about eating the RIGHT amounts of fat, protein, and carbs a day. It wasn't about listening to my body's needs. This messed up my mind and I really forgot how to enjoy food. I love fruits smoothies because they can provide you with many nutrients and I love adding chia seeds and flaxseeds but because I was counting macros it was hard to always make my favorite ingredients fit into my macros. Now I am intuitively eating just making smart healthy choices and I can tell you I am happiest, healthier, and looking better than I ever did before. Being healthy is not just looking fit , eating right, or exercising is about emotional health as well. Feeling good and happy in the inside and outside. That is what real health is.
